What and why cloud computing?

These blogs are going to target non-technical/just want to know people. For in-depth technical knowledge, demo and eBook preparation is going on.

Even though these are basic questions about cloud computing, ABCInfo as a service provider must answer and convince the XYZ-HealthCare management.

Q1) What is cloud computing?
Ans. Cloud computing is a type of Internet-based computing that provides shared computer processing resources and data to computers and other devices on demand. (From Wikipedia)

Example: I need to travel from one place to other place by many ways. Using my own vehicle/vehicles or just rent any type of vehicle/vehicles from some transportation company as per my need at that time.

Same thing is applied in an IT industry also, XYZ-HealthCare need not to invest heavily on an infrastructures, servers, security, high configuration computers and engineers frequently.

They just rent all of them from some service provider like ABCInfo as per their requirements and pay them as per usage.

Q2) why should we need to move on cloud computing? How it solves our problems?
Ans. The answer may not justify at all the situation but let me try to give a fare reason/example.

Example: I own a car with 4 people seating capacity and 80% of my daily needs are fulfilling by it, and someday I had to travel to another city for some reason along with my 12 family members.

I have these below options,
Sl No.OptionsAdvantagesDis-advantagesTerms used in Cloud computing
1I can buy a new 12 seater tempo traveler/ 8 seater SUV and use along with my carWe all can travel at same time/together. I can give TT/Car on rent to others post my usage.I have to take burden of travel permit, maintenance, EMI, parking space, driver salary and many more things.Cloud service provider
2I can rent a tempo traveler with 12 seater capacity. Will pay Rs.20/km and TT moves as per my instructionI have to pay higher rent with or without it's full usagePrivate Cloud
3I can rent a SUV with 8 seater capacity & use along with my carWill pay Rs.10/km and use my car by just filling fuel. Keep valuable things in my car only.Co-ordination is required while driving/travelling.Hybrid Cloud
4I can use any public transportation like Bus/Train/Flight.No need to bother about serviceBut need to follow there rules, regulations and restrictions. Public Cloud

As above example hold good in an IT industry. Here XYZ-HealthCare can,

rent anytime high configuration servers, services and applications as per need from providers.

switch off/return them, when they are not in use or purpose is served.
pay for what they used. And keep eye at granular level billing.

rent some part of servers, services and applications along with existing once and make dependency less on cloud services.

save time, money and resources which XYZ-HealthCare was using for it's data center maintenance.

It's not necessary to adopt every time all the new things. But I believe "Technology is like a moving road roller, if you are not part of it's wheel. Then definitely you will be the part of a road".
